Fermenting New Ideas in Animal Nutrition
Fibromace is a proven natural feed additive made from a proprietary blend of Aspergillus oryzae and Trichoderma viride. It is validated to support optimal digestion of fiber and starch, thereby enhancing the performance of animals. The slides that follow walk through what Fibromace contains, how it works, and the Texas research trial behind the defaults used in this calculator.
Per ISAPP (International Scientific Association for Probiotics and Prebiotics): a postbiotic is a preparation of inanimate microorganisms and/or their components that confers a health benefit on the host.
Fibromace's components are derived from the fermentation of two organisms: Aspergillus oryzae and Trichoderma viride.
To evaluate the efficacy of Fibromace in a pellet on performance, digestibility, and economics of lactating Holstein dairy cows in a robot dairy.
Per RD LifeSciences instruction, this calculator uses only the Texas study shown here — a separate Wisconsin field-trial dataset in the source presentation was not used for any calculator default.

IVNDFD, %. Fibromace increased in-vitro NDF digestibility at both timepoints (p = 0.001).
Apparent total-tract NDF digestibility, %. This is the panel-default source
for the calculator's ndfRed figure (2.3 pts).
Starch in manure, %. Less starch escaping undigested means more of it was
captured as energy — the source for the calculator's starchRed figure (2.33 pts).
Dry matter intake of TMR, lbs./day. Overall +1.17 lbs./day — the source
for the calculator's dmiChange default (+1.0 lbs./day).
Milk yield, lbs./day. Overall +2.32 lbs./day — the direct source for
the calculator's default milkResp (all cows) and its Primiparous (+1.47) /
Multiparous (+4.22) presets.
ECM yield, lbs./day. Overall +2.11 lbs./day. Primiparous difference not statistically significant (p = 0.267); multiparous and all-cow gains were significant (p < 0.001).
Fat + true protein yield, lbs./day. Primiparous not significant (p = 0.130); multiparous and all-cow gains significant (p < 0.001).
At $21/cwt, multiparous cows returned +$0.63/head/day — a 3:1 ROI. Supplementing 376 multiparous cows could yield $86,461 in additional annual profit.
| Calculator Field | Default | Texas-Study Source |
|---|---|---|
| Additional Milk / Cow / Day | +2.32 lbs. | All-cow milk yield: 81.3 → 83.6 lbs./day |
| ↳ Primiparous preset | +1.47 lbs. | Primiparous milk yield: 66.4 → 67.9 lbs./day |
| ↳ Multiparous preset | +4.22 lbs. | Multiparous milk yield: 93.5 → 97.7 lbs./day |
| Baseline Milk Yield | 81.3 lbs./day | Texas study control-group milk yield, all cows |
| Milk Price | $0.21/lb (≈$21/cwt) | Matches the trial's own IOFC basis ($21/cwt) |
| DMI Change | +1.0 lbs./day | All-cow DMI: 55.6 → 56.6 lbs./day (+1.17 rounded) |
| Fecal NDF Reduction | 2.3 pts | Total-tract NDF digestibility: 45.4% → 47.7% |
| Fecal Starch Reduction | 2.33 pts | Starch escaping in manure: 3.09% → 0.76% |
| Fibromace Dose | 4 g/head/day | RD LifeSciences label guidance (user-provided) |
| Fibromace Cost | $0.058/cow/day | 4 g/day × ($328.75 ÷ 50 lb bag ÷ 453.592 g/lb) |
| Fat / Protein Component Uplift | 0 (off) | Texas study did not report a fat/protein component split |
| Mycotoxin / Stress Support panel | Included, default OFF | No trial dollar figures — placeholder until real cost data exists |
The Wisconsin field-trial data referenced in the source presentation was intentionally excluded from every calculator default, per instruction.
